The Lead Lab Technician plans and carries out non-routine assignments and is accountable for the analysis, decisions and recommendations of test work or programs. This position will be called upon to act in a supervisory role or second in command to the Lab Manager, Assistant Lab Manager of the Minerals Geochemistry laboratory.

Demonstrates strong leadership skills in the supervising of small technical teams, ideally including the supervision of people in a minerals related laboratory. Previous experience using laboratory instruments and the ability to operate and trouble-shoot them.
Knowledge of good laboratory practices and good management practices.
Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
A post secondary education (degree and/or diploma) in a Science related program (Chemistry, Geochemistry, Biochemistry etc.) is strongly preferred.
